Details: Scotland’s Outdoor, Ski and Snowboard Show will return from 20-21 October 2012 at the SECC in Glasgow with a host of new features for 2012.
In the Outdoors area, there will be displays by the current World Record holder for indoor kite flying, opportunities to try archery for those inspired by the Disney Pixar film Brave, an indoor cave to explore, and a chance to discover falconry with World of Wings, Scotland’s largest birds of prey centre.
Meanwhile, in the ski and snowboard area, visitors can watch live freestyle displays, meet sled dogs from the Cairngorms and relax in the apres ski area, with a hot chocolate bar, mulled cocktail bar and DJ sets. Visitors who bring their swimsuits can enjoy some bubbly in the hot tub Champagne bar, and anyone wanting to play dress up can rummage through a box in the main bar containing fun ski wear as well as lederhosen.
A programme of talks by experts such as night-time wildlife spotting expert Darren Perks, top skier Dougie Crawford, Marine hero JJ Chalmers and Atlantic-crossing kayaker Steve Bowens will take place throughout the weekend.
Foodies will enjoy camp fire and alpine cookery demonstrations by top Scottish cookery schools.
Don’t miss the new outdoor and snow sports fashion show, which sets out to prove that thermals can be sexy. Every hour there will be the chance to see new men’s and women’s snow and outdoors wear, including Max Beesly’s brand Snowbabies and the launch of the new collection from Ellis Brigham.
There will also be dozens of exhibitors offering expert advice, the latest kit and special offers on outdoor, ski and snowboard experiences.
The show’s main sponsor is Chamonix Mont-Blanc and visitors will have a chance to win a ski holiday to the resort in the French Alps.
Cost: Tickets cost £12 on the door, or £10 if booked in advance. Those booking in advance also receive a 2 for 1 ski pass for a Scottish ski resort worth £15 and a free beginners ski lesson at Bearsden Ski Club in Glasgow.
