Olympic Heptathlete champion Jessica Ennis has been crowned the William Hill Sportswoman of the Year 2012.

The inaugural Jaguar Academy of Sport awards took place at the weekend in a ceremony packed to the rafters with sporting legends, past and present. The Jaguar Academy of Sport, launched in March 2010, aims to recognise, celebrate and inspire the very best of British sporting talent. It was an evening to commemorate this year’s success as well as looking forward to the future.
The inaugral Jaguar Academy of Sports Awards are to be held on 7 November and will celebrate the best British sporting achievements in 2010 with a particular focus on those athletes and performances that have helped to inspire the next generation. The awards are unique in that the judging panel is formed by the Patrons and Ambassadors of the Jaguar Academy of Sport which includes, among others, Dame Kelly Holmes, David Beckham and Denise Lewis.
