Where: Ethiopia
Details: Following the success of Cycle Zambia 2009, which raised over £100,000, Transaid is hoping that Trek Ethiopia (one of two new challenges) will prove even bigger and better!
Trek Ethiopia 2011 provides an opportunity to explore the unknown, trailing over 60km through the spectacular scenery of Ethiopia. Beginning in Addis Ababa, the group will hike though dramatic landscapes close to the spectacular Simien Mountains, and observe some of Africa’s most famous animals and birds, before finishing in the historical town of Gonder.
The funds raised from these two new challenges will support Transaid’s vital work to help people in Africa gain better access to healthcare, education and the opportunity to earn a living, through safer, cheaper and more efficient transport.
More info: Those interested should register at www.transaid.org or alternatively you can request an information pack by calling 020 7387 8136 or emailing [email protected]. Places are limited. Participants for the challenges are asked to pay a registration fee of £299 and make a commitment to raising a minimum sponsorship of £3,000.

Where: Cambridge, Cheshire, Cornwall, Dorset, Lincoln, London, Richmond Park, Manchester, Westonbirt Arboretum
Details: To mark International Women’s Day, international charity VSO are asking you to either organise a walk for women’s health or sign up to those listed above.
The UK enjoys some of the best maternity care in the world, but women in many other countries such as Tabita Koroma are not so lucky. Like many in Sierra Leone, Tabita is living with the consequences of sub-standard care - when she experienced complications in her labour, she lost her child. Sign up for this walk and raise money to help women like Tabita.
VSO will send you the walk’s pack, with everything you need to set up your walk and start fundraising.
