Becoming elite without meat

GB hockey player Katie Long tells Sportsister how she fuels her diet despite not eating meat.

As a lifelong vegetarian, the merest hint of meat was enough to make me want to throw up. I remember a hockey trip to Australia in 2007 with the GB Youth Olympic team when my stunned teammate walked into my room as I was gagging into a wastepaper bin. There were no vegetarian options for dinner so I had picked the chicken off a pizza and took a bite. The revulsion was instant. (more…)
