Namibia 24 Hour Ultra Marathon

When: 24th to the 31st May 2010

Where: The Northern Namib Desert

Details: Whether wanting to train for the adventure of a lifetime or raise money for charity, those in search of the ultimate adventure for 2010 will be pleased to hear that Across the Divide has announced new dates for next year’s Namibia 24 Hour Ultra Marathon - one of the toughest footraces on earth.

The Namibia 24 Hour Ultra Marathon can be run for a charity of choice or simply for personal achievement. Taking place in the Northern Namib Desert, the event is certain to provide the ultimate in adventure, whilst pushing competitors to their limits as they pass through the vast volcanic plains, striking mountains and the Messum Crater, facing extreme temperatures ranging from 5°C at night to an intense 35°C during the midday sun.

For the less ambitious still in search of a serious challenge, a marathon of 42km will take place at the same time as the 126km run. This marathon follows the same course as the longer run, but stops at the 42km rest station and must be completed in eight hours.

Nick Tidball, 2009 Namibia Ultra competitor says, “The race and the whole experience was amazing and every element of the organisation was just right. It was so refreshing to be with a great group of like-minded people. The entire event was an unforgettable experience.”

All participants will be completely self reliant throughout the race and will need to carry all food and equipment on their backs. Water stations and medical tents will be provided at 20km intervals along the route.
