Even through all of this negative publicity I still think that it’s great that the Olympics are going to be held in London. It’s such a huge occassion and spectacle, and I for one am really looking forward to see how London are going to stage the whole thing. Yes it’s costing a lot of money, but at the end of the day I think it’s going to be worth it. The Athens games got nothing but bad press before hand, but they managed to pull it out of the bag - so why can’t we?

I think its an amazing opportunity not just for London but for for everyone in Britain. As the Olympics captures the imagination of the wider public it will get more and more people into sport which will not only slow the rate of obesity (which we clearly have a problem with) but will improve our success rate at an international level.

I was living in Oz when the Olympics were in Sydney and all states ended up benefiting as certain events were held all over the country. The atmosphere was great and really got everyone watching and playing sport. If more people play sport then it justifies greater investment in facilities which we certainly need over here!!!!!

I can’t wait!! I’ll be in my 50th year and have signed up as a volunteer…..the opportunity to not only have the chance to see the games, but to actually be a part of them could not be missed….truly a ’ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY’!!

We’d love to hear your thoughts on London 2012 following Team GB’s success in Beijing. Did the gold rush increase the excitement? Who can’t you wait to see competing on home turf? What events are you most excited about?

I live on the coast, so I’m looking forward to seeing some of the sailing events around the south coast. There should be good medal chances as well in Yngling (sp?) and windsurfing. The boys might get one or two as well.

I plan to go up to the Olympic site. But I’ve not decided what I want to see most - swimming, hockey, basketball… choices choices.
