Ahead of the Ricoh British Women’s Open Sportsister chats to last year’s unforgettable winner Catriona Matthew.
It’s been a roller coaster 12 months for British tennis star Anne Keothavong. A year ago she was enjoying the best form of her career, resulting in her breaking into the top 50 for the first time. But a knee injury stopped her in her tracks. Sportsister’s Louise Hudson joined her for a day on the training court to find out what life is like on the tennis tour.

Hertfordshire Mavericks progressed to the semi-finals of the Co-operative Netball Superleague with the most slender of victories against Northern Thunder. The two teams were neck and neck throughout the game but it was the visiting Mavericks who managed to deal the final blow with a 46-45 win.

Team Bath have booked their place in the Netball Superleague Grand Final with a 57-42 win against Surrey Storm in the 1st v 2nd place play off. After their loss Storm will get another shot at making the final when they face Hertfordshire Mavericks; the winners of the 3rd v 4th place play off.
A team of eight athletes will be heading to France this weekend (1-2 May) to compete at the 2010 Nancy ETU Duathlon European Championships. The team, which contains both senior and junior athletes, will be hoping to gain some valuable experience as they prepare for Britain to host the 2010 Edinburgh ITU Duathlon World Championships in September.
Bristol Academy will be the home of the UK’s first purpose-built women’s football stadium when the FA’s Superleague season kicks off next March. The ground, which is costing £850,000 to complete and will have a 1,500 capacity is being built at Bristol’s Filton College base.
