Five great women making a difference
In the midst of all the lists, awards and reviews of 2016 we thought we’d give a quick shout-out to five women making a difference in sport - you might even spot a last minute Christmas gift in there too. Here goes - we love them all:
1. Anabel Sexton - Boudavida
Anabel Sexton launched Boudavida this autumn. Not only does the brand have some great kit, they have also commited to supporting women’s sport, with 5% of every sale going direct to either an athlete or a great grassroots project. Now if that’s not a reason to spend your money with them, then we don’t know what is!

2. Isla Rowntree - IslaBikes
Isla Rowntree’s extensive experience in bike design, custom building and riding has allowed her to produce a range of bikes that are simply perfect for the job - which is mainly kids bikes. They are built as light as is practically possible and everything is appropriately downsized. This brand is without doubt helping a new generation of young girls (and boys) have a great experience of cycling from an early age - something that will stay with them forever.

4. Alex Rotas
One of the biggest challenges for women’s sport is a lack of visibility, so imagine how hard it is to get noticed if you are female AND in your 70’s, 80’s, 90’s. ‘Seniorpreneur’ Alex Rotas challenges stereotypes about ageing through photography, speaking, writing – and getting old herself. You can support Alex’s work by buying a fab calendar or book of her photos - Brilliant!

5. Elizabeth Beaumont Colebrook - Beaumont Bikes
Elizabeth Beaumont Colebrook is a rare breed, one of very few female bike builders and someone who is looking for solutions to help people with a reduced range of movement keep on riding. Beaumont Bikes is building up a business creating a unique product for a market not served well - If you’re looking for a lightweight, low geared step-through bike that’s comfortable and feels great to ride, you’ve just found the framebuilder to built it!
