Sportsister Brooks Review – September 2015

Brooks have made a shift with its FW15 line that moves away from the traditional runners uniform and looks at functioning lifestyle pieces that are technical but could also be worn in a social setting. Brooks’ ethos has always being about creating items that are both comfortable and practical so that nothing will stop you from making the most of your workout.
Here at Sportsister we are celebrating our own Running Week, so we have tried out the latest designs from Brooks’ FW15 range to help to find you the perfect clothes for your run, just in time for the change in season. Summer is firmly on its way out – so it’s time to layer up and you don’t need to look any further than the FW15 range. Read on for our ultimate guide of running gear this autumn.
LSD Thermal Vest. A great accompaniment for running outdoors at this time of year because it’s light but will keep you warm. I really loved the finish of this vest as the lining is really bright and has the fitting slogan, ‘run happy’! In addition to this, its windproof and water-resistant protection is ideal for the great British weather and the front and back retroreflectivity will keep you safe on dim evening ventures. More info
The Joyride Hoodie: Really comfortable for running and I love the colour. It’s made with a dri-layer, sheep-ish wool blend that wicks moisture, inhibits odors, and helps regulate body temperature which means that you won’t be too hot, or too cold. The fact that it had thumb-holes to keep my hands warm was an added benefit. More info

Distance Short Sleeve: Your basic short-sleeve top is a staple part of your fitness wardrobe. It’s soft and there are a range of colours to suit any taste. It’s made with innovative dri-layer burst fabric that’s super-soft and odor-resistant to keep you looking and feeling great whatever you decide to do. More info
Streaker Capri: These were my favourite pick. They were really comfortable and felt really flattering plus I loved the design. They also have a shallow pocket in the back of the waistband, which is a great feature that’s useful when you’re out for a run and need somewhere to put your keys. In addition to this, they are really close-fitting so they feel almost like compression wear – totally seamless capri’s that will keep you feeling streamlined. More info
Distance Short Sleeve, Streaker Capri
LSD Jacket: This jacket was great for running because it’s super light and keeps the rain away without making you too hot. One thing that was missing were pockets, but it’s nifty in that it packs into its own pocket when you’re not using it and has an elastic carry handle. More info
Fly-By Sweatshirt: This is one of our top picks. It’s so soft and it’s transferable to everyday life as well as for sports. I liked the petal design at the bottom which adds a unique feature, plus it’s reversible so having this sweatshirt is like owning two items. More info
Racey Short, Fly-By Sweatshirt, LSD Jacket
Racey 3.5” Shorts: These shorts are great, I love the bright colours and the scallop design at the bottom which splits as you move, giving you a perfect combination of coverage and a full-range of motion. Plus the thick waistband is really comfortable and flattering for running and stretching. More info
The Verdict:
Brooks clothes are perfect for running. You can definitely feel that they are built with women in mind because they are flattering, practical and fully tailored to the active woman. Brooks clothes come in various colours, styles, and sizes (from XS-XL) that cater for everyone. The added extra features really make them feel liveable and demonstrate their no-compromise policy. After trying and testing this new range of clothes, we certainly didn’t feel like we were compromising either. For more information go to www.brooksrunning.com.
