This week saw Jordanne Whiley win her second Wimbledon title, Helen Glover and Heather Stanning extend their winning to streak to 27 and record numbers turn up to watch Women’s Super League football.

Wimbledon 2015: Jordanne Whiley and Yui Kamiji defend title
Jordanne Whiley successfully defended her Wimbledon title as she and playing partner Yui Kamiji won the wheelchair doubles final.The pair beat Dutch duo Jiske Griffioen and Aniek Van Koot 6-2 5-7 6-3. Full story via the BBC

Rowing: Helen Glover and Heather Stanning continue winning streak
Helen Glover and Heather Stanning laid a perfect platform for their World Championships preparation by winning the latest World Cup series in Lucerne. The Olympic, World and European Champions now have a 27-race winning streak after holding off a strong New Zealand pair, Grace Prendergast and Kerri Gowler. Full story via TeamGB

 

Football: Women’s World Cup Lionesses return to record crowds
Record crowds turned out to watch Women’s Super League sides as stars of the World Cup returned to domestic action with their clubs.Of the 23 England Lionesses that finished third overall in Canada, 17 made league appearances on Sunday. A new league-record crowd of 2,102 saw Manchester City beat Birmingham City 1-0 at the Academy Stadium. Full story via BBC

Athletics: Silver medal for Jazmin Sawyers at European Championships
University of Bath-based Jazmin Sawyers set a PB to win a silver medal at the European Under-23 Championships. The 21-year-old overcame a shaky start, which saw her record 6.17m and then a no-jump, to finish just 2cm behind winner Malaika Mihambo of Germany. Full story via Bath Chronicle

Triathlon: Jodie Stimpson and Lucy Hall well placed at European Championships
Commonwealth Champion, Jodie Stimpson made her return to competition after an Achilles injury. She was perfectly placed on the bike alongside the Olympic gold and silver medal winners, Nicola Spirig (SUI) and Lisa Norden (SWE) until a flat tyre forced her to stop for a wheel change.

Britain’s Lucy Hall and Jessica Learmonth were already up the road having led out of the swim. Early into the run Spirig took the lead and ran away to victory. Lucy Hall held on for fifth and Stimpson finished ninth. Full story via British Triathlon
