Cycling: Five great cycling jackets

February 17, 2015

A great cycle jacket is an essential item that can be worn in all seasons and should last for years, so it’s worth making the right choice. Here’s our pick of this seasons new designs.

Café du Cycliste Colette Rain Jacket

The Café du Cycliste Colette Rain Jacket is superlight and will scrunch down into a jersey pocket, but is still fully waterproof. Its 4-way stretch fabric means it is super comfortable and gives a great fit.

Details include a waterproof zip, taped seams, brushed inside collar for comfort and waterproof cuffs. It also comes in a beautiful shade of purple. It’s not cheap, but it is fabulous!

Rapha Classic Wind Jacket

The Rapha Wind Jacket is designed for variable conditions and is ideal for cool morning starts, summer descents and sudden showers. The high-stretch fabric is extremely lightweight and at around 150g (size small), packs down small enough to fit into a jersey pocket.

The Wind Jacket has numerous details including waterproof zip, a soft fleece chin guard, a structured fit and wear-resistant Lycra cuffs. Along with classic details such as reflective trim and a longer back hem, there are clever details such as a stitched tail to prevent the jacket flapping and friction locks on the waist which make it easy to adjust the jacket when riding. Stylish and packed with details, you know you are getting something special from Rapha.

It is also extremely breathable to help you retain the optimum temperature on your training sessions, plus it packs down so you can tuck it in a jersey pocket.

The dhb Cosmo Jacket has a slim performance race fit for an aerodynamic profile (so consider a size up if you want a more comfort fit). We love the colour and the price point makes it a great option.
