Badminton: Adcocks title defence ended by Olympic champions

Chris and Gabby Adcock’s title defence of their Hong Kong Open Superseries crown came to an end in the semi-finals at the hands of old foes and world number one pair Zhang and Zhao from China.
The Chinese top seeds came into the semi-final with a 6-1 head-to-head record over the Adcocks, the world number 5 pair, with the English duo’s only win coming at this stage last year en route to winning their maiden Superseries title in Hong Kong.
Chris said: “We couldn’t quite bring the form we have been playing at today, which is disappointing. “In saying that the Chinese didn’t give us anything today and came out strong from the get-go.
The Adcocks will now start their preparations for the BWF World Superseries Finals in Dubai, when the top eight ranked badminton players in the world compete for the title.
