Katie Summerhayes setting sights on 2018 gold
Katie Summerhayes says that her disappointment at not winning a medal at Sochi is propelling her towards gold at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.
Despite qualifying for the first-ever Olympic ski slopestyle final in third, Summerhayes ended the competition in seventh place.
Symmerhayes had suffered two knee ligament problems in the build up to the Games, but is now back on form and concentrating on nothing but December and the start of the new season.
“I look back every day and I’m still really gutted,” Summerhayes told Sportsbeat.
“I keep thinking if I hadn’t put my hands down it could have been so different but I’ve had that in my mind throughout training this summer and I’m going to get that Olympic gold.
“I’ve had an amazing summer (training) and learned so much. I can’t wait to show people what I can do and I’ll be going into all of my competitions with the aim of winning a medal.”
