Sportsister Loves: Glasgow Parkour Girls free events

September 11, 2024

Glasgow Parkour Girls are really making things happen, first they set up a group, then a great website. Next they set about securing crowd funding to get a coaching qualification, meaning that Kel Glaister is one of only two female qualified parkour coaches in Scotland. Now you can get involved through their free events.

The events (jams) are the perfect environment for women to train and learn together. Loosely structured, parkour jams allow all comers to develop their own training style, and to get a great work out!

Parkour is a discipline of movement that focuses on efficient and fluid movement through any terrain, using running, jumping, climbing, vaulting, crawling and rolling to overcome obstacles in the environment.

Parkour training has a strong focus on health and longevity, and all training begins at ground level and progresses slowly to avoid unnecessary risk. For any women who have ever wanted to give parkour a try, this parkour jam is your opportunity!

Take a look at this video and be inspired!

Details:
There will be an ADAPT qualified coach at the jam, to run a warm up, and to offer advice and support on training methods and techniques.

When: SUNDAY September 14, Rottenrow Gardens at 1400 (or meet at Buchanan St Underground Station at 1345)
Why: To encourage female participation n the discipline, and build the strong female community in Glasgow.
Who: Training suitable for women and girls of all abilities, ages and experience, especially those new to parkour.
