Rugby: England through to World Cup final

England reached the Women’s Rugby World Cup final for the fourth time in a row as they outclassed Ireland in Paris yesterday.
A dominant performance from the pack enabled England to hit back after Alison Miller gave Ireland an initial 7-0 lead, but tries from Rochelle Clark, Kat Merchant, Kay Wilson and Marlie Packer (two) helped to secure a 40-7 victory.

“We’re delighted with the performance, I think that the scoreline reflects the fact that we really did turn up on the day and we performed really well,” said Captain Katy Mclean afterwards.
“I’m so proud of all of the girls – the forwards and the backs all delivered and we have a huge opportunity on Sunday. We can’t wait.”
England, who lost the three previous finals to New Zealand, will this year play Canada, with whom they drew 13-13 in the pool stage, in the final on Sunday,
