Athletics: Katarina Johnson-Thompson pulls out of European Championships

British Athletics have announced that Katarina Johnson-Thompson has pulled out of the Great Britain team for the European Championships in Zurich.

The 21 year old was due to compete in the long jump, but has failed to recover from the foot injury that forced her to withdraw from the Commonwealth Games.

Long jumper Shara Proctor has also pulled out of the championships with injury.

Javelin thrower Goldie Sayers has been named as the Great Britain team captain for the event, which gets underway on Tuesday, 12 August.
