Cycling: Laura Trott wins British Road Race title

Laura Trott won the National Road Race title at the weekend ahead of Dani King and Lizzie Armitstead after a sprint finish.
Trott, who also retained her U-23 title caught defending champion Armitstead on the final lap of the course to claim victory.
Following a 5th place finish earlier in the week in the time trial, Trott said she was delighted to have taken the road race title.
“I felt I had a lot more form than what the time suggested and I know the course didn’t suit me with the hill at the finish, but I don’t understand why my time wasn’t good enough.
“So to come here today, I was so, so up for it. I woke up this morning and I was like ‘don’t even speak to me’.
“I was so in the zone - I just wanted to get out and get it done. It’s such an amazing feeling.”
