Wings For Life World Run

On Sunday 4 May Red Bull are hosting the first ever World Run in aid of spinal cord research charity Wings for Life. The global running race will be the first of its kind and will see people running simultaneously in more than 30 countries across the world.
The World Run is accessible to people of all abilities, making it a fantastic option if you’re not up for a marathon or if you’re new to running. The race will not have a set finish line; the finish line will chase runners in the form of a ‘catcher car’. Once overtaken by the car runners will be eliminated from the race and this will continue until there is one person standing in every country and eventually only one person standing in the world. This means that people can dictate the length of their own race.
The UK leg will take place at Silverstone race circuit at 11am and will have up to 5,000 runners participating. Already signed up to the race is former Infiniti Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber, Brit model Jodie Kidd, Wales international rugby player George North, international hurdler Dai Greene and former Scottish rugby star Thom Evans who suffered a spinal cord injury aged 24 ending his rugby career.
Those wanting to take part in the Silverstone race have until midnight (GMT) on Sunday, April 20 to register at www.wingsforlifeworldrun.com. The entry fee is £40 and all money taken will be given in full to the Wings For Life Spinal Cord Research Foundation.
