Sportsister Loves: Sports Liberated

Six years ago when we launched Sportsister, it seemed so logical, so timely, so long overdue. The years ticked by and we struggled on, convinced that where were nearing the crest of a wave that would take us and the rest of women’s sport soaring forwards towards fair and equal recognition.
We’re still not there, we still struggle, but the one significant change is that social media has given us the opportunity to meet (virtually and for real) and support each other. It helps, not only on a personal level like a kind of councelling service for campaigners, but it also gives confidence and creates a groundswell of women (and men) determined that women’s sport will get fair recognition.
One fellow trailblazer is Jo Gunston with her publication Sports Liberated. If you like a good read and you like women’s sport - or indeed just sport, then this is for you. It differs from Sportsister in that it is less about participation and more about the news and stories behind the scenes. Like a more varied and slightly more vibrant version of Sport.
It’s a great read and has a nice tone. It’s insightful and interesting with some great visuals and lighthearted sections to dip into too.
All-in-all it’s worth the £2 being charged - and charge they should - we know from our own experience how hard it is to stay afloat in this emerging market.
Check it out here for the price of one take-away coffee - it’s a bargain and a lot more satisfying!
