#takeonachallenge blog: The Mudstacle Obstacle racing League

February 24, 2024

After discovering my love of OCR (obstacle racing) during ‘My Year of Ultimate Challenges’, this year I will be taking on the first OCR League in the UK, organised by Mudstacle, whilst racing money for the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association in memory of my father.

The Mudstacle League is made up of obstacle course races and mud runs, where you are able to compete in the UK’s leading races and compare your overall position with the rest of the Mudstacle community, and maybe even win cash prizes at the end of the season!

The is the winter/spring season where you will be able to score points in league events between January and May 2014. There are 12 events in total and you can take part in as many as you want, however, only your top three scores will count towards your league total.

The reason I chose this and think the league is fantastic is because the events are spread nationwide so anyone can join in and #takeonachallenge. There is a really fantastic, supportive and friendly community spirit in obstacle racing due to the nature of the events themselves, really pushing yourself to the limits either individually or as part of a team, as well as many participants taking part for charity.

There is also the fact that there are always obstacles that are difficult to overcome on your own, and you will never be left alone, even as an individual participant. In my experience, there is always a kind fellow participant offering you a limb to use as some type of propelling mechanism to help you get over that ruddy fence/cargo net/massive hay bale… you get the idea.

It’s also heaps of fun and that sense of accomplishment at the end, whether by yourself or with a team of mates, is exceptionally hard to beat or find elsewhere.

I will be taking part in the following events in the league and blogging about my preparation and experience along the way:

  • Nuts Challenge - 2 March
  • Back to the Trenches - 23 March
  • Endurer dash - 12 April
  • Dirty weekend - 10 May

Why not join me and #takeonachallenge ? Click here to see if there are any events near you that are registered as part of the Mudstacle League.

Life begins at the end of your comfort zone – come and join me there!

Clarissa inspires others to #takeonachallenge

Off the back of completing 'My Year of Ultimate Challenges' follow me as I attempt to take on bigger and more enduring challenges from abseiling, cycling, stand up paddle boarding and swimming to desert races, mountain treks, adventure and obstacles races….with as much variety as possible! I’m doing this in the hope to encourage girls and women to #takeonachallenge, get active and have fun whilst raising money for the Go Sisters World Series which aims to promote female participation and empowerment of girls through sport across the globe. I am also doing all of this in the memory of my father who inspired and made me the sport fanatic I am; and raising money for The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association in his honour. Follow my journey through the highs and lows of my training, reviews of the events I partake in, and be part of this fulfilling journey of discovering how hard we really can push ourselves!
