Sochi 2014: Jenny Jones wins snowboarding bronze
Snowboarder Jenny Jones has won Great Britain a first-ever Winter Olympic medal on the snow after taking the bronze in the snowboard slopestyle event in Sochi.
Jones went into first place in the second run of the final with a score of 87.25 but had a nail biting wait while the remaining 10 riders took their runs. Snowboard legends came and went, even Australian superstar Torah Bright was unable to put down a better run. But eventually American Jamie Anderson took gold with 95.25 and Finland’s Enni Rukajarvi took silver on 92.50, leaving Jones with the bronze.
Jones, a veteran of the sport who has come back from injury and even held off retirement to compete in Sochi was clearly thrilled, “I did the best run I could have done,” a thrilled Jones told BBC Sport.
