Jenny Jones: My five essential kitbag items

What does Sochi bronze medalist and the UK’s most globally respected and successful professional snowboarder Jenny Jones use to help maintain her winning ways?

Here’s what she had to say when we asked her for her top five essentials…

1. Forcefield Impact Shorts. Super tough but slim line enough so it doesn’t look like I’m wearing a nappy underneath my snowboard trousers!

2. Oakley polarized goggles (above). My goggles need to be strong, robust and protective as they’re constantly in bright light out in the mountains and can take some batterings with the crashes I might have.

3. My Pentax camera (below). I love to capture shots for memory’s sake on my journeys and with so much traveling, activity, riding, wet snow and surf trips I just wouldn’t get on with a dainty camera. This is definitely the other end of the dainty spectrum!

4. 110% recovery pants. The more riding days I can get in the better and recovering my muscles is key, so along with warm downs on a bike and water recovery I use 110% Play Harder Compression for icing swollen or tired muscles which is part of the routine with snowboarding.

5. A travel sized foam roller and golf ball. Both of these are used for release work. The specific foam roller is hollow so great for traveling as it creates more space and is super firm which is handy as several team mates have borrowed it and it still hasn’t lost its shape. The golf ball is also great for release work on niggles and knots.

Unfortunately I’m limited to my five essentials, but if my list could be longer I’d definitely have to add a bag of nuts and raisins for an on-the-hill snack, high factor sunblock and tons of green tea!
