Macmillan Cycletta @ Wiggle Dragon Ride

Event type: 45km road cycling event
Date: 8 June
Location: Port Talbot, Wales
Details: Macmillan Cycletta is the UK ’s leading series of women-only bike rides and is supported by Olympic Gold Medalist Victoria Pendleton. In our Women-Only feature, we featured one of the classic Cycletta rides, but this event is slightly more challenging and takes place as part of the UK ’s most prestigious sportive (cycle ride event), the Wiggle Dragon Ride near Port Talbot, Wales.

The 45km route is slightly hillier than the usual Macmillan Cycletta rides and provides a perfect platform for those wishing to work towards a larger more challenging sportive, whilst still ensuring all the usual camaraderie that Macmillan Cycletta rides provide.

Daisy Chain Bike Events

Event type: Mountain Bike off-road (non-competitive)
Date: 10-11 June
Location: Builth Wells, Wales
Details: If mountain biking is more your thing, then this women’s event might fit the bill. Set in the glorious Mid Wales countryside, Daisy Chain events are designed to encourage women to try an event in a friendly and non-competitive environment. The rides are suitable for all women with a basic level of fitness and skill. Last year several of the participants were completely new to biking off road and some were semi pros, so there’s a great mix of riders.

The event takes place over two days with mountain biking skills classes, mechanic skills, demo bikes, tea and cake, sports massage and fun for the kids on the Saturday.

Followed by a choice of 15K, 20K, 30K or 40K routes on Sunday. All rides are off road with diversions around the technical tracks for those who want them. There is a feed stop on top of the hill which provides all your usual energy products, plus tea, coffee and homemade cake.
