Athlete Christine Ohuruogu scooped the top honour at yesterday’s Sports Journalists Association Awards being named Sportswoman of the Year.

The 28 year old was awarded the title after her heroic showing at the world championships in Moscow this summer where she won gold in the 400m, breaking Kathy Cook’s 28-year British record in the process.

Elsewhere, Hannah Cockcroft, the T34 100m and 200m world champion, was named as the 2013 SJA Paralympic Sportswoman of the Year.
