Tried and Tested: Newton Lady Isaac running shoes

When I first put on this pair of Newton Lady Isaac running shoes, I could immediately feel that there was something different about them to any other running shoe that I had worn. The shoe has been designed in such a way that I feel very high off the ground, and my initial reaction is that I’m uncomfortable.

The shoes are designed for midfoot/forefront runners to help prevent them from heel striking. They are also built with Forefoot Action/Reaction Technology, (I will explain more later), which Newton claims absorbs and then returns your own energy back to you, allowing a boost of forward energy with every single stride you take.

Sounds pretty good to me, but do they do the trick?

Good points:

– They work. After the shock of their initial alien feel, I have successfully adapted my running style to stride with much less of a heel strike and no longer does it feel unnatural to feel slightly higher off the ground.

– I like the feminine, blue design, and currently selling at half the price they are a bargain!

Bad Points:

– My shoe size is 6, but for running shoes I always like to buy 6.5 so I can wear thick socks and allow for a little more movement. The Newton trainers I tried in a 6.5 felt very tight, and after running for longer than 30 minutes  so I would definitely recommend buying at least ½ bigger than your usual.

Cost: Currently £59.99 having been reduced from £120
Sizes: 3-9 (including half sizes)
