Cycling: GB secure gold and world record at European Championships

London Olympic gold medallists Laura Trott and Dani King were joined by Katie Archibald and Elinor Barker yesterday, 18 October, to win the women’s team pursuit gold at the European Track Championships in Apeldoorn.
Clocking a time of 4:26.556, the British team were over nine seconds quicker than their nearest rivals Poland, and secured a world record in the process shaving six seconds off the previous record they had set at the recent national championships.
King also won silver in the women’s points race, while double world champion Becky James and Jess Varnish combined to take bronze in the women’s team sprint.
