Rowing: Helen Glover and Polly Swann win gold at World Champs
Helen Glover and Polly Swann won gold for Great Britain in the women’s pair at the Rowing World Championships in Chungju, South Korea today with a time of seven minutes 22.82 seconds.
The victory means that Olympic champion Glover and Swann, who won three World Cup regattas this year, finish the season unbeaten as a team.
“Even though last year was a home Olympic Games I had less pressure on me going into it,” said Glover. “We were relatively unknown but this year there was more weight on my shoulders and I’m proud of the way we coped with it.”
Elsewhere, The women’s eight of Melanie Wilson, Caragh Mcmurtry, Louisa Reeve, Beth Rodford, Jessica Eddie, Zoe Lee, Katie Greves, Olivia Carnegie-Brown and Zoe De Toledo finished fourth in the event.
