Golf: Gemma Dryburgh finishes second in Amateur Stroke Play Championship

Girls British Champion Jing Yan completed a notable double in the Ladies British Open Amateur Stroke play Championship at Prestwick this weekend where she won by two strokes from Gemma Dryburgh of Scotland.
Dryburgh had a fantastic tournament and her outstanding effort earned her the Duncan Salver for the best performance by an Under-23 years player, having had birdies at the fifth, sixth, eighth,12th and 17th. She bogeyed only the fourth and ninth.
“I am pleased with the way I played,” said Gemma afterwards. “I thought my putting was the best part of my game over the three days, thanks to a lot of work with my coach, Lawrence Farmer.
“If anything putting was the weakest part of my play on the last US college golf season, even though I won twice, so it is great and encouraging to improve in that department.
“I do think I am a better player than I was this time last year and I can go on improving.”
