Football: Arsenal beat Doncaster 6-0

Arsenal Ladies manager Shelley Kerr was full of praise for her team after their resounding 6-0 win over Doncaster Rovers Belles yesterday, 21 August.
Gilly Flaherty opened the scoring with further goals coming from Jordan Nobbs, Ellen White, Steph Houghton and Danielle Carter scoring twice.
“We’re delighted with the three points and the clean sheet. We scored some really good goals as well, which is always pleasing,” said Kerr.
“We created quite a few chances and the goals were spread out so that was nice. Credit to Doncaster because they fought really hard and had a ten-minute spell when they kept the ball well.
“The girls are doing really well and we’re pleased with the way things are going. The girls are getting fitter and sharper, which is the way it should be.”
Doncaster boss John Buckley acknowledged his side’s defensive frailties and lack of firepower, but was overall pleased with their work-rate.
“They’re a good side but we made some mistakes and conceded some goals we shouldn’t have,” he said.
“I thought we were maybe the better team going forward in the first 15 minutes of the second half, but we’ve got to learn to take our chances. I can’t fault my players for their effort, though.”
