Golf: Emma Carberry to defend English Women’s Open Mid-Amateur Championship
Sussex golfer Emma Carberry will look to defend her title this week at the English Women’s Open Mid-Amateur Championship.
Emma won the title in exceptional circumstances last year, when torrential rain played havoc with the schedule. The matchplay event was changed to a stroke play competition, which Emma won by three shots, and she then went on to also win the South Region Women’s Championship.
The event, which is open to players aged 18 and over, has also attracted English amateur champion and international Sarah-Jane Boyd and Singapore-based Charlotte Thomas, who was runner-up in last week’s English stroke play championship.
The Championship takes place at the John O’Gaunt Golf Club in Bedfordshire from Thursday to Sunday, 15-18 August.
