Athletics: The latest from the Deaflympics in Sofia

July 31, 2013

With her debut in a high level international track competition, marathon Bronze medallist, Melanie Jewett ran in the 10,000m finishing sixth in a time of 43:07.78.

Showing resilience in very challenging conditions – six opponents dropped out of the race due to excessive temperatures, and unfortunately, three of the retired athletes required medial treatment on the track side.

And Scottish athlete Lauren Peffers ran a perfectly well executed 400m, taking the lead off the first bend into the back strait and winning comfortably to book her place in tomorrow’s final as the third fastest qualifier in a time of 58:26.
