Diving: Tonia Couch and Sarah Barrow finish fifth in 10m Synchro

Divers Tonia Couch and Sarah Barrow finished in fifth place in the 10m Synchro yesterday, 22 July, on day three of the World Swimming Championships in Barcelona.
The British pair qualified sixth on 306.54 in the morning prelim, but improved their score, as well as position, in the final as they finished on 309.72.
“We compete against the same countries in every competition pretty much,” said Barrow (pictured right). “We got two bronzes and a silver in the World Series this year against the same teams as today so we know we can beat them.
“Apart from the Chinese, the top eight in the world are always changing really. It just needs to go right on the day.
“We’ve been working really hard on inward which has been our lowest scoring dive the past few years, but was our highest in prelims and finals today.
“You start on one dive and another one goes a bit. One day we’ll get it all together.”
Both Brits will return for the 10m prelims tomorrow, Wednesday 24th July, with Couch (pictured left) set to compete in the individual event at her fifth consecutive World Championships.
