Triathlon: Jodie Stimpson wins British World Triathlon Series race

GB’s Jodie Stimpson won a World Triathlon Series race at the weekend held in Kitzbuehel, Austria.
After already achieving two third place finishes this season, the win was Stimpson’s first at a World Triathlon Series and her success has now moved her into second place in the rankings.
Winning in a time of one hour 3 minutes and 22 seconds, she said afterwards, “I couldn’t believe it. I got to half way and said ‘ok my legs aren’t feeling too bad’.
“People were breathing heavily and I was actually feeling ok. I got to 2k and my legs felt OK, and Darren [Smith, coach] said if you feel OK at 2k let it rip, give it a go. On this course you have to give it a go and it worked out.”
Her GB team-mate Katie Hewison secured seventh position, with Vanessa Raw and Non Stanford finishing 15th and 16th respectively.
