Wimbledon tennis: Four Brits out on first day

The first day of Wimbledon wasn’t good for our British girls. Following the early defeat of Elena Baltacha in the morning, Anne Keothavong also lost her opening match against Garbine Muguruza of Spain 6-4 6-0.
Keothavong said afterwards, “It is just a shame I could not win the match.
“I need to get myself fit again and go from there, really, going forwards. I’ve not had any thoughts of retiring. Not at this moment in time.”
Elsewhere, world number 235 Samantha Murray lost in her opening round 6-3, 6-4 to world number 93 Camila Giorgi of Italy, while Johanna Konta was also defeated 6-2, 7-5 to the 16th seed and former world number one Jelena Jankovic of Serbia.
Britain’s number one and two, Laura Robson and Heather Watson play their opening matches today, Tuesday 25 June.
