Wimbledon Tennis: Elena Baltacha makes early exit

The British number six, Elena Baltacha made a swift exit against Italy’s Flavia Pennetta earlier today at Wimbledon.

The Scot could not take advantage of her wildcard as she went down 6-4 6-1 in the first match on Court Three.

Baltacha had hoped to build on a good run of form since returning from nine months out with a foot injury in April, but was outplayed by Pennetta who finished the match in one hour and 14 minutes.
