Tennis: Keothavong out in first round of Aegon Classic

British number five Anne Keothavong lost in the first round of the Aegon Classic in Birmingham yesterday to America’s Alison Riske 7-5 6-2.
And British number 13 Melanie South also suffered a straight-sets loss, to Magdalena Rybarikova of Slovakia with the score 6-4 6-2.
British number two Heather Watson, will play her first-round match later today against Melinda Czink of Hungary.
Watson is playing only her second match since returning to competition after a four month break while she recovered from glandular fever.
And alongside her today, Aegon GB Fed Cup team mate Johanna Konta is up against Kurumi Nara of Japan with fellow Brit Tara Moore playing twelfth seed Kristina Mladenovic of France.
The British number one Laura Robson will enter the tournament in round two as she is seeded in the top eight. The 19 year old seventh seed will play the winner of the match between Casey Dellacqua and Daniela Hantuchova.
