Athletics: Eilidh Child achieves PB in 400m hurdles

Olympic and Commonwealth Games silver medallist Eilidh Child secured a new personal best in the 400m hurdles on Saturday in Geneva.
Her time of 54.93 seconds was quicker than what rival Perri Shakes-Drayton managed in the Diamond League in Eugene and leaves the Scot at the top of the British rankings.
“I am very pleased with 54.93 in Switzerland, but the fact remains that it still feels early season,” Child said.
“Hopefully there are even better performances to come further down the line. The whole point of the indoor season on the flat was to help my speed and now it is good to see improvement over the hurdles.
“I am running again in France on Monday and will see if I can go even quicker there.
“There were still a few errors in my race,” Child admitted to BBC Scotland.
“So I hope there’s more to build on and more to come in the next couple of races.”
“It is difficult to compare different races in different countries, but I’m delighted that I have held on to that UK number one spot and hopefully I can do that for the rest of the season.
“This was only my second race over the hurdles this year, so to run a PB this early, I’m just delighted.
