PUMA has teamed up with Sportsister to offer one reader the chance to win a pair of the most innovative running shoes on the market, the Mobium Elite. The Mobium Elite’s won Competitor Magazine’s Most Innovative Shoe at this year’s awards.

After two years of intensive design and development, PUMA unveiled their first high performance adaptive shoe, inspired by the most vital piece of equipment, the foot. Like the foot, the shoe expands in three directions; longitudinally, laterally and vertically.

PUMA sought inspiration from the cat. Similar to cat’s paws, which compress together during its propulsion phase and expand during stance phase to provide cushioning, PUMA Mobium Elite’s ‘Expansion Pods’ on the outsole of the shoe expand and contract with the foot.

As a result, the Mobium’s cushioning, protection and flexibility encourage a more efficient stride and offers runners a smoother transition.

The Mobium’s band can be seen running through the outsole in a “figure eight” shape, this is designed to work dynamically like the tendons in the foot and enhance a runner’s natural spring. The shoe is worn in training by Britain’s fastest female runner at the 2013 Virgin London marathon, Susan Partridge.
