The England Women’s Senior Team will take on Olympic Bronze Medalists Canada in the Final of the Cyprus Cup on Wednesday 13 March at 4.00pm GMT.
This is an annual tournament and a key part of England Coach Hope Powell’s preparations for this summer’s UEFA European Championships in Sweden which take place from 10-28 July.
Hope Powell’s England topped Group A, beating Italy (4-2) and New Zealand (3-1) either side of a 4-4 draw with Scotland.
Now they face the Olympic bronze medallists in a repeat of the 2009 final – which England won 3-1. The Three Lions then went on to reach the Final of that summer’s European Championship in Finland.
Powell said: “Canada will be a really good opportunity to see where we are because they are a very, very good side. They play in a formation that can be difficult to come up against, a bit like New Zealand did.
“Our game plan worked against New Zealand so we just have to make sure we do that against Canada.
“They are very physical and they use that to their advantage. We’ve got to be prepared for that and do what we are good at, which is moving the ball around quickly.
England also will play Canada in a friendly international on 7 April at Rotherham FC kick off 3.00pm.
