The 12in12: it’s a marathon, not a sprint

Running one marathon once in your life is challenge enough, so imagine running 12 in just 12 days!

The 12in12: it’s a marathon, not a sprintThat’s exactly what members of The HOPE Tour have signed up for, and are doing as we speak.

FOLLOW THE FINAL LEG OF THE TOUR ON SUNDAY 23/12 HERE:

The HOPE Tour represents the final piece of a 12-challenge series the team have undertaken as part of a yearlong fundraiser for HOPEHIV: the 12in12.

The 27 members have undertaken everything from cycling London to Paris, running marathons, triathlons and adventure races to bog snorkelling and morph suit running so far this year. They’ve pushed their bodies to the limit in a bid to raise £250,000 for HOPEHIV, a charity which supports children and young people orphaned or affected by the devastating consequences of HIV/AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa.

But now, it’s Tour time. Sarah O’Neill, Meredith Bochmann, Kerry McCarthy and Matt Pullen began their 12-marathon journey in North Yorkshire on December 12, winding their way down the UK through major towns and cities, aiming to cross the finish line on the Mall, London on December 23.

And guess who they’ve got for company on that final day!

Sportsister’s Jess will be joining The HOPE Tourers for the final leg of their journey on December 23, and thanks to Map My Tracks you can follow the action, even from the comfort of your own home.

Live action of the runners will be displayed on MapMyTracks.com as well as on the Map My Tracks range of mobile apps for those wanting to stay up-to-date whilst on the move.

But you don’t have to wait until Sunday to track their progress – check out how they’ve been getting on so far here.

For more information on the the 12 in 12, including how you can donate should you wish, visit their website or their Facebook page and tweet #the12in12 to show your support on twitter.

Also keep your eyes peeled on this post as we’ll be streaming the live tracking on Sunday. Wish us luck!
