Fitta Mamma maternity sportswear

Keen to keep exercising right through my pregnancy, I jumped at the chance to test out the new line of Fitta Mamma maternity sportswear.

According to research regular exercise can reduce some of the physical symptoms of pregnancy such as backache and tiredness as well as improving stamina to help prepare for labour and aid recovery afterwards. Plus pregnant women who exercise regularly are likely to sleep better whilst the natural endorphins will help raise mood levels.

I’m now 31 weeks and am still regularly running, going to the gym, indoor cycling and swimming – just at a much slower pace and lower intensity than I am used to!

I tested the Sport Support Top and the Mamma Shorts. I have struggled to find a good top to wear during pregnancy. They are either too tight, ride up, dig in, or I need to get them so big that they gape in all the wrong places!

So I tried the FittaMamma Maternity Sport Support top to see how much better a proper maternity top can be. I have been using this for the last few weeks, and the top should be adaptable enough to last me until the end of the pregnancy. It can also still be worn after I have given birth - in fact the garments are designed to come back in to shape and both the tops and bottoms will hold you in place to encourage your stomach muscles to knit back in together.

RATING: Top: 4/5 Shorts: 3/5

GOOD POINTS:
- The soft material feels great, looks stylish and is flattering
- The support offered by the top is really comforting around the bottom of your bump, and it also stays put so you don’t need to worry about the fabric riding up and exposing your bare bump!
-The belly band on the shorts can be rolled under the bump or over the bump giving you freedom to wear different tops, and will take you throughout your pregnancy, and through recovery.
- Both garments have the technologies of regular sports kit but with added design features to support your body
- Both pieces are versatile and can be used for any sports or activity through pregnancy

BAD POINTS:
- The top is a little difficult to get in and out of
- I found the chest support is only good enough for low impact activities but not for higher intensity workouts
- Would love another colour choice for the shorts as grey isn’t great if you sweat

PRICE:
Top:
£54.99 – but it is currently on offer at £49.99
Shorts: £39.99

SIZES: S, M, L, XL

Kerensa and Michaela, founders of the State of Mind sportswear range, are my new favourite people. Not only have they designed a range of simple, classic and wearable sportswear and swimwear, but they’ve done something which the vast majority of other sports kit companies seem reluctant to address – they’ve catered their range specifically for sizes 16 - 26.
