Scotland have missed out on securing an automatic spot at Euro 2013 as they fell 5-0 to a dominant French side last night at Tynecastle Stadium.
Marie-Laure Delie opened the scoring before Eugenie Le Sommer followed suit, heading the second. Louisa Necib put the visitors further ahead before Le Sommer and Delie added a second each.
Scotland had already secured a play-off place, but needed to finish four goals ahead of Bruno Bini’s side to automatically qualify. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be, and Anna Signeul’s side fell behind from the start in Edinburgh.
Scotland went into the match with a slim chance of qualifying automatically as best runner-up, with the Netherlands securing that place.
Signeul’s side will now look to Friday’s play-off draw, following a 2-1 win over over Wales last weekend.
France’s success means they end qualifying Group 4 with a 100% record intact.
