“We don’t need more strength, more ability, or more opportunity. What we need, is to use what we have” – unknown.
I’ve been thinking about kit this week. Does wearing the latest gear and the most hi-tech footwear give you the edge, or, as the quote above (borrowed from CrossFit Bath’s website) states, should we use what we have and make do?
I certainly seem to be more keen to train when I’m comfortable in what I’m wearing and think I look ok, so is is it more a mental, rather than physical, matter?
I’m hoping to put some CrossFit clobber to the test over the next couple of months, and I’ll let you know my findings. Thanks to Reebok coming on to the scene and affiliating boxes across the UK, CrossFit gear now seems to be much more mainstream and easier to get hold of, so I’ve got plenty of choice!
But back to the box. This week at CrossFit Bath it was “T-elen” - 3 Rounds for time of; Run 400m, 21 Kettle Bell Swings (24/16) and 12 Toes to Bar.
Thanks to the delayed ‘summer’, the box was hot, but I managed to complete my (scaled) workout in 10 minutes 15 secs in, might I add, my non-CrossFit specific kit. Phew!
Could I have bettered that time if I’d been wearing the latest gear? Only one way to find out!
Enjoy the sunshine!
