Olympic blog: Outside the Games

As it’s been well publicised, there are a lot of people who have ended up without tickets to the London Olympics. But, as we featured in our July issue (get your hands on the digital issue here) there are heaps of ways that you can still enjoy the Olympic atmosphere – with or without a ticket.

London is currently coming alive with a sport fever! Everywhere you look there are signs that something very special is about to start in the capital. And this means lots of new experiences and events for you to enjoy this amazing summer of sport.

One such experience is the Mizuno Brand Performance Centre, which will open its doors to the public tomorrow. Although they have to be very careful not to associate the launch with a certain world famous sporting event that is going to be taking place just a few miles away from their central London pop up (the restrictions in place for non-Olympic sponsor brands are huge) – what I can tell you is that it will be open until August 12th and offer fans a fun, free sporty experience.

Have a go at handball

Featuring state-of-the-art activity zones based around sprinting, football and handball to test speed, agility, accuracy and power, you can win spot prizes for highest scores. So come prepared to show your speed on the custom built 20m sprit track.

You can also expect to see top class athletes at the Centre, so it could be a good chance to test your skills against some of the best sportsmen and women in the world.

She shoots, she scores…

Obviously as a marketing exercise Mizuno are hoping you will be wowed by their products too, and will be offering free biomechanical running analysis and the opportunity to try out some of their latest products.

They will also be selling the new limited edition Mizuno Seiei collection - ‘Seiei’ (pronounced “say ay”) is Japanese for the word ‘elite’ and this exclusive new range – all in the colour purple - will be worn by Mizuno’s top sporting athletes this summer.

The centre is free to visit, but it is advisable to book a place in advance to guarantee entry.
