Trampolining: Driscoll defends title at British Championships

The NIA arena in Birmingham was host to an array of gymnastic talent at the 2012 trampoline, tumbling and double mini trampoline British championships this weekend.

Just weeks before the London Olympics, Team GB’s Kat Driscoll (pictured above) defended her British title, scoring 54.105 for her routine. Second place Bryony Page achieved a score of 53.180, whilst Laura Gallagher came third with 50.945.

Driscoll commented on her victory:

“I’m so happy to have retained my title and had incredible support from the crowd which is perfect preparation for the Games – it was definitely a special experience competing as our 2012 Olympian”. She continued, “I’m really enjoying the build-up to the Games and the support really gives you the boost to train hard.”

Nathan Bailey won gold in the senior men’s trampolining competition with a score of 56.665, beating Daniel Greaves and Liam Abraham who got silver and bronze.

In the women’s tumbling competition, Rachel Letsche achieved gold, ahead of Deborah Gathercole and Sophie Parkin who placed silver and bronze respectively.

In the double mini trampoline senior women’s event, Georgia Downing won gold over last year’s champion Robyn Osborne and Lydia Yates who placed third.
