England’s women levelled the one-day series against India at Truro yesterday, with a three-wicket win and an over unused.

After a late start and Charlotte Edwards winning the toss, England’s bowlers limited India to 54 for two in the 23rd over after Katherine Brunt trapped Mona Meshram in front and Jenny Gunn’s ball to Poonam Raut was caught behind by Sarah Taylor.

India’s captain Mithali Raj and Harmanpreet Kauer added 86 inside 20 overs for the third wicket, to make 58 and 55 respectively.

Whilst Jenny Gunn batted 36 not out, steering England to a three-wicket win with an over to spare.

England saw their first victory of the series last Thursday at Taunton, after India won the previous two games. The five match series therefore now stands at 2-2 with the final match at Wormsley on Wednesday set to be the decider.

Gunn, who was awarded player of the match commented: “It was a good team performance today, there were contributions from everyone.” She continued, “The final match of the series at Wormsley on Wednesday should be an exciting game as it will decide the series.”
