Basingstoke Half Marathon

After rave reviews from runners at last year’s event, organisers Destination Basingstoke are planning an even better Half Marathon event to bring to you in this sporting year.

And it’s even already achieved a GOLD rating by BARR (British Association of Road Races) which is a major achievement for such a new race.

Race organiser Felicity Edwards said, “Last year was our first year and we were overwhelmed with the response with places selling out months before the race, and it seems that enthusiasm was justified as we have had such great feedback.

“Runners commended us on the organisation and race course, but we what we didn’t anticipate was the amazing support from spectators who really got into the party mood for the day!”

The Basingstoke half marathon is a traffic free route starting from the easily accessible War Memorial Park in the middle of the town – just minutes from the M3 – before taking you out of town through rolling hills and quaint villages with spectacular views.

It is a challenging course, but one that it is well worth rising to, finishing back in the park.

Online entry is open until 31 August and the entry fee includes a free technical t shirt that you collect on the day. There is plenty of free parking with all the usual facilities on site and with the town centre only minutes away.

“We can’t guarantee warm weather again, but we can guarantee a great welcome and a race you will remember for all the right reasons, my advice is start training now for the Basingstoke challenge this autumn- we look forward to seeing you”, concluded Felicity.
