Video: Helena Lucas satisfied with close encounters at Sail for Gold 2012
Helena Lucas showed why she was selected for London 2012 with two second-place finishes on day two of the Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta, one spot behind fellow Brit Megan Pascoe.
But despite climbing the leaderboard in the 2.4mR class, Lucas was still left wondering what could have been had she not been sluggish at the start.
“I think I had two average starts. If they could have been better I could possibly have won both races,” said Lucas.
“This regatta is all about staying on top of things ahead of the Games so I think it is just constantly staying on top of that sort of stuff, that is the aim.
“Going into the rest of the week I will now kind of put a bit more focus on getting off the start line a little bit better and hopefully that will put me in even better stead.”
Investment specialist Skandia is the principal sponsor of the British sailing team. For more information go to www.skandiateamgbr.com.
