My final preparations are just about all coming together, but its always the way, you have months and months to arrange yourself for a big event, but for no good reason, everything gets left until the day before and you have a mild panic when you realise that not everything is where it should be!
I found this morning I don’t have any gel packs left in the cupboard – definite disaster, then I discovered that there is only the smallest scrap of vaseline left in the tub, (that could be painful!) and to round it off we haven’t replaced last summer holiday’s sun cream.
Ok so a quick last stop to the shops was definitely needed.
I’m leaving early tomorrow morning to head to the Expo, where I’ll register as soon as possible and join my fellow 36,000 runners for a much needed mass pasta party.
I’ve definitely got butterflies now everytime I think about it! Danielle registered and received her number yesterday – it’s real now she is officially in the race and this has only added to my anticipation.
So lets run through the check list:
- Clothes (both for running and spare) – check
- Trainers – check
- Gels – check
- Water bottle – check
- Vaseline – check
- Pain killers (you never know!) – check
- Registration form – check
- Suncream – check
Now I know that possibly with the latter I’m being a little keen. I’ve been keeping up to date with the weather religiously this week, it doesn’t appear to be improving with every hour that I check it and I’m slightly concerned of the expected rain; I’ve learnt over these past few months that I really don’t enjoy running in bad weather.
What do you think? Maybe I could surprise myself and finish before 1?! Slightly optimistic I feel…
BEST OF LUCK to everyone who is taking part and I’ll catch up with you Monday.
Happy running!
