Take a look at these great videos, titled the Water Dancer, produced by surf brand Quiksilver looking at the similarities between the sport of surfing and different dance disciplines.
They feature Quiksilver brand ambassador and four times ASP World Champion surfer Stephanie Gilmore, as she visited three professional dancers in New York. She met with Tiler Peck, one of the New York City ballet principals; Brooklyn breakdancer and musician Casandra ‘Defy’ Rivera and famed choreographer Noemie LaFrance.
The women discussed the creativity, elegance and audacity of surfing as it relates to the splendor, power and beauty of dance. Stephanie sought to capture the dancers’ unique culture, breathtaking talent and exciting stories, while demonstrating the relationship between the art of dance and the sport of surfing.
